The Third Presbyterian Church was built in 1895 at 9th and Potter Street in Chester, PA. It had many unusual features including double hinged doors and walls that could be rolled up to enlarge the sanctuary and classrooms. It the site of the first bible summer school that opened in 1912.
The church had not been used as a church for many years and was in need of repair. The Chester Historic Preservation Committee was in the process of raising funds to restore it.
Sadly the church was destroyed by fire on May 28, 2020. They believe arson was the cause.
I am fortunate to have been able to photograph the building in 2018 with a small group led by Matthew Christopher (Abandoned America.us).
